was built across the street at its present location, 701 Oak St. Since then, Tom’s Tire World has expanded the business to include three other locations: 15 W. Concho in San Angelo, 706 W. Commerce in Brownwood, and 151 S. Pioneer in Abilene. Tom’s Tire World has grown and succeeded for so many years for one reason: Our loyal customers. Tom Ceniglis Sr, a former Abilene city councilman, began his career with Firestone in 1959. After 16 years, he started his own company in Abilene. For 26 years he and his wife Reba built a reputation for honest work at a fair price. Customer loyalty and a mutual concern for their customers made Tom’s Tire World the successful business it is today. Over the years, Tom and Reba have been active in the community. Reba was president of Western Little League and the company sponsors a Wylie Little League team and financially supports the Big Country Soccer Association. Tom was president of Abilene Boys Ranch for more than six years, served on the Goodwill Board and the Abilene Assn. Of Independent Business Owners. He was on the parish council of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and later Holy family Catholic Church. And, he is a member of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce and it’s Military Affairs Committee. Tom and Reba sold controlling interest in the company to Tom Jr. and his wife Angie in August 2000. Tom and Reba remain in key roles and still office at the original store on Oak Street. Tom Jr. began work at age 12 for 25 cents an hour and eventually became President of the firm. He has served on the board of the Texas Tire Dealers Assn. and is one of eight members on the national dealer advisory council for Tire Pros Association.
